This is an American, antique quilt made circa the 1940s-1950s. It is the Yankee Puzzle quilt pattern. The quilt is loaded with novelty fabrics and floral prints from its era. It is a very fun and cheerful display of antique textiles. We especially like the contrasting lavender backing fabric (inside of the jacket) which can best be seen when the cuffs are rolled or when the jacket is worn upside down. We believe that the quilt top is a combination of hand and machine sewing. This piece has not been hand quilted. It has been machine-stitched using contrasting oragne thread in a zig zag pattern. it was very difficult to short his in our listing photos so if you would like more details on the thread color and the charming zig zag throughout kindly message us for follow up photos.
If you like to wear your Ethel jackets upside down, this is a great jacket for you.
In our opinion, this quilt is thin, lightweight, with a little loft (puffiness), and very soft.
This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
- The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
