This is a hand embroidered Otomi from San Miguel, Mexico. These handmade Otomis are becoming harder and harder to find because younger generations are not continuing the traditions of their ancestors. Otomi embroidery is a Mexican style of hand embroidery. The Otomi textiles, also known as tenangos take weeks or even years for the women to embroider. They are said to be based off of cliff paintings in the Tepehua-Otomi mountains in the area. Some say that they may be also inspired by cave paintings in the Mexican Plateau area. The embroidery is done on ivory cotton. This otomi is two tone, but many are filled with a multitude of bright colors. To make this Otomi into a quilt we added blue polka dot fabric for the backing(inside of jacket). We recommend cuffing the sleeves to show off this fun fabric. In our opinion, the jacket is very very thin and lightweight with no loft or batting. We used vintage gold and white buttons as closures. This jacket looks great with a dress or more causally worn with your favorite pair of jeans. This is a size S. Please see size guide and length measurements below. If you have any questions on size or fit please direct message us and we would be happy to help.
