This is an Antique American quilt made circa 1930's to 1940s. It is a traditional Honey Comb or Hexi quilt pattern. This piece has been beautifully hand quilted and hand sewn, which is a labor of love and a lost art. This quilt top was made my a different maker than than the person who finished the quilt. We know this because the backing fabric was from an earlier era than the quilt top. The quilt contains many rare indigos and novelty fabrics from its decade. Whoever finished the quilt added a white and black chicken wire print fabric as a border and took the time to hand applique the quilt top to this border. We have preserved the chicken wire border because we find it charming and we did not want to disturb the hand appliquéd stitches. In our opinion the quilt is very thin, light as a cloud, soft, and with a great drape. If you have further questions please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
