The Aunt Ethel features a cropped look. This specific quilt is a variation on the Spool Pattern and can also be referred to as a nine patch pinwheel pattern. It is hand quilted and was made circa 1890-1920. It is rare to see these fabric combinations and patterns from this era and this quilt should go to someone that will appreciate its age and fabrics. The inside of the jacket, the backing of the quilt, is a muslin. When we washed this quilt, there was a lot of color bleeding and in order to revive this beauty, we did have to put several patches on it. The price reflects all these factors.

  • It has been preloved.

  • This jacket is lightweight or summer weight quilt.

  • The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.

  • This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.

  • The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

  • One Size Fits Most

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
