The Helen is a mid-length jacket that falls right above the knee. This is an antique, American quilt made in the Broken Star pattern. This quilt is extra special because we have more information than normal on its history and its previous lives. This quilt comes with a paper from the family of Cora Hauk in Fort Wayne, Indiana, who was the very talented maker of this quilt. This quilt will come with its history as dictated by the great-granddaughter of the maker. We have included a photo at the end of the listing of the paperwork that we are referring to. This beauty is extraordinary because it was both hand quilted and hand pieced, which is a labor of love and a dying art.
Please note: there is some sun fading throughout that does not affect the structural integrity of this piece. It is in excellent condition aside from the sun bleaching.
This is a light to mid-weight quilt and thin/medium thickness.
This jacket features side slits for generous movement and a beautiful drape.
This jacket has two clear snaps at the tips of the collar that secure the lapel if desired.
This jacket has two pockets.
Fold the architectural collar down to create a lapel if desired.
The Helen Jacket has a generous fit and is not meant to have a tailored look.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
