The Aunt Ethel features a cropped look. This is an American, vintage quilt made circa 1950s-1960s. It is beautifully hand quilted and hand pieced which makes it a true work of art and a labor of love. This piece is full of scraps from the maker’s sewing box that predate the eras it was actually sewn. It is an extremely soft and comfortable piece to wear so if comfort is one of your number one reasons for purchasing a Lady Lancaster, please consider this piece. In addition, to all of those details perhaps our most fabric unique factor about this piece is the fact that the quilt back, inside of the jacket, is also a large scale patchwork, which means that this jacket is going to look stunning worn upside down and cuffed.
This is a lightweight quilt.
The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.
One Size Fits Most
Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
