This is an American, antique quilt made circa 1930s. This is the Ring Around the Star quilt pattern. This piece has been masterfully hand quilted and hand pieced. The tiny stitches on the quilt are humbling to witness and phenomenal. This quilt contains at least three to five different historical feedsack fabrics. The pieces used to construct this masterpiece are extremely tiny and they are diamonds. In some ways, technically speaking, this piece is a total show off. It is obvious to us that sadly, the maker of the quilt top did not get around to finishing the quilt. This quilt was backed at a later date and by a different maker. We know this because the fabric used to back this quilt is a cotton poly blend. This quilt is very light weight. However, it has quite a bit of loft (puffiness) from the batting. We do not believe this piece was used very much as it still retains its structure and is not super drapey when worn.
- The shawl collar allows for several different style options. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down.
- This jacket has two clear snaps that disappear into the fabric at the bottom of the shawl collar to help the lapel drape nicely.
- The Aunt Ethel has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots.

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years and we believe that makes them perfectly imperfect. This is what makes them a one-of-a-kind piece of art. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend spot cleaning if necessary.
