Style Guide

THE AUNT ETHEL

The Aunt Ethel jacket features a cropped, oversized look. This style has slouchy shoulders and a generous fit, keeping in line with its bohemian roots. The Aunt Ethel features a shawl collar, which allows for many different styling options. There are two snaps at the bottom of the shawl collar to secure the lapel. The Aunt Ethel hem is asymmetric—lower with more bum coverage at the back and slightly shorter at the front. The sleeves on the Auntie Ethel are wide, bell sleeves throughout the whole, entire arm. This jacket is meant to be worn right side up or upside down. One size fits most. If you like the Auntie Ethel style, but you are one of our petite clients, we also offer a smaller version of this pattern.

THE HELEN

The Helen is a mid-length jacket that falls right above the knee. It is inspired by a vintage swing jacket. This style features side vents for generous movement and a beautiful drape. The Helen collar is meant to be more architectural; however, it also has two snaps at the top of the collar to secure the lapel if desired. The sleeves are in keeping with a typical dolman or batwing sleeve. In other words, the sleeves are cut wide at the shoulder with deep arm holes that leads to a more tapered fit towards the wrist. Most Helen jackets have two pockets that have been expertly pattern matched with the design of the quilt. This style also features French seams, which allows for wearing the jacket inside out. The Helen jacket has a generous fit and is not meant to have a tailored look. One size fits most.

THE QUEEN BEE

The Queen Bee jacket is truly a one-of-a-kind piece of art. This jacket is full of drama and is a statement from start to finish. It features a tailored look, exaggerated puffed sleeves, and rarely seen antique buttons. We poured our hearts into this pattern as we are the first to endeavor a style like this made with an authentic antique quilt.
This style is not one size fits most.

THE BLANKIE

We designed the Blankie jacket to be a literal blankie with sleeves. This is intentionally an oversized garment. Most Blankie jackets have two pockets which we expertly blend into the traditional quilt pattern. It has a generous fit and is not meant to have a tailored look. This jacket is not recommended for our petite clients.
One size fits most.

THE LADY BIRD

The Lady Bird is a tailored quilted jacket. It has a tapered waistband and hand selected antique buttons. This jacket is a beautiful piece of fashion which is evident in it taking three times longer to sew than our one size fits most jackets. Please note, this jacket is not one size fits most.

THE DUSTER

The Duster is our longest style. Many Dusters feature two generous pockets and antique buttons running down the front. We lean on our Duster style when we come across an antique quilt that we believe showcases best in its entirety, and the Duster is an opportunity to tell the full story.

THE MARKET JACKET

This is a straight cut mid length jacket with a collar and button closures. If the specific quilt used allows, we try to put two pockets on this style. This style can be customized to fit and can easily be lengthened or shortened per your request.

LANCASTER LITTLES

Our mini quilt jacket style is designed to allow children the opportunity to wear their quilts over the span of multiple years. We suggest purchasing a larger size than needed so that this piece can be styled multiple ways throughout childhood. In other words, if your child is two years old at the time of purchase, this jacket may look more like a midi duster cuffed and by the time they are four to six it will become more of a cropped jacket. Our mini jackets can be custom ordered if we do not have any in stock on our website. This specific jacket features include a hood, darling contrasting trim fabric around the border, a one button closure just under the chin, and two front pockets if desired.
