This is a hand blocked Kantha quilt made by a hill tribe in Myanmar (Berma). Block-printed fabrics are made by hand carving a design into wooden blocks. The block is then covered with dye or ink and is pressed onto the cloth to transfer the design one block section at a time. We are obsessed by the botanical, earth-tone fabric on the inside of the jacket. This jacket is completely reversible and for the first time ever, due to the thinner material, we were able to add pockets to both the inside and outside of the jacket. In our opinion, this quilt is extremely soft, extremely thin, very light weight, and has the perfect drape. It is a Lady Lancaster 10/10 and a wardrobe staple that looks good styled with anything in your closet. Unlike our American quilts we were able to source multiple quilts from this same block print thus this is not a one of a kind. Unlike American quilts we have found that Kantha quilts are prone to snagging. The quilting is not nearly as tight and technical, if loose kantha stitches and snagging give you a headache we would kindly redirect you to our American quilt jackets.  If you have further questions, please direct message us and we are happy to send you a video.

Measurements

36” back of the neck to the bottom of the hem

36” laying flat, armpit to armpit

Please note that all of our jackets are made from antique quilts and the fabric reflects this. Our fabrics are sometimes older than 100 years old and are perfectly worn. We believe this is what makes them special and is part of their charm. All of our garments are pre-washed in a special restoration quilt wash. We recommend only spot cleaning if necessary.
